Q1. What is DD:Recall?
A1. DD:Recall is an online progress tracking tool designed for people that play DDR. It is provided, for the most part, freely to the public. You must be registered to use it. We also offer image hosting and forum access, among "extra" features that can be bought for a small one-time fee.

DDR Extreme
DDRMAX2: Dance Dance Revolution 7th Mix
DDRMAX: Dance Dance Revolution 6th Mix

Q3. Will DD:Recall support console release versions or European arcade releases?
A3. At this time, there are no plans to do so.
Console releases are generally easier to score on because timing window is wider. There is also the issue of verifying scores. It's also a lot easier to cheat on Home Version than it is at an arcade where the game's configurations are inaccessible to most players.
European versions are not categorized because this site is primarily oriented toward U.S. players. Sorry Europe :-(.

Q4. How do I submit my scores?
A4. Click on [Scores -> Browse/Submit Songs] in the global menu to enter the [Browse Songs] section. From there you may submit scores for songs and view other users' scores. The links at the top of this page can be used to toggle between styles (such as "single") and difficulties (such as "Heavy"). The default style and difficulty group can be configured by going to [Update My Profile] in the site menu.
The view scores for a song, click the song title. To submit scores, click on any of the text that appears below the title (initially "No Data"). A pop-up should open containing the score entry form. If your browser doesn't support JavaScript, then you will be taken a seperate page with the same form. When you are done, click [Submit] and your score will be entered. If you opted for it, information about how your score has changed will appear. Otherwise the popup will close.
The idea of this system to allow one to go through the list and open pop-ups for all the songs they played. Then they can go through each window and submit their scores accordingly.
Submitting scores for challenge courses works the same. We currently support DDR Extreme oni courses, DDR Extreme nonstop courses, and DDR Max2 oni courses. We have no plans to support 4th Mix nonstop courses.

Q5. How are stored scores verified?
A5. They aren't, for the most part. Generally if someone starts submitting scores that seem suspiciously high, we will take measures to attempt to verify the validity of those scores and remove them if necessary. Keep in mind that the game has been around for over half a decade. There are a lot of extremely good players. The large majority of songs have generally been AAA'd by at least 10-20 different people. For easier songs this number rises exponentially so questioning a person's AAA on Sobakasu Freckles is somewhat vain.
We do try our best to root out false scores, but do not accuse. DDR costs as little as $0.25 to play, whereas a digital camera good enough to take screenshots can cost upwards of $50; it's even more for a camcorder. It's a big difference for many. If you think a user is submitting false scores, you can report them using the [Report this user] link in their profile.

Q6. How accurate are DD:Recall's records?
A6. As the site is still fairly young, the accuracy of DD:Recall's record with regard to long-time players is extremely limited. This limitation should become less and less apparent over time. Generally, scores submitted in the first week or February 2005 can be expected to be a year or two old on average.

Q7. Is it okay to submit my Home Version scores?
A7. Yes, but only under one condition. You must make sure that the score is marked as private. To do so, uncheck [Display in public ranking] when submitting the score. This ensures that the score does not disrupt public rankings. You may still view your own score in the ranking, but it will not be numbered and it will not be visible to other users.
Occasionally accidents happen. If you are reported for submitting home scores, we will mark all of your scores private and send a message informing you. It is then your descretion to re-publicize any legitimate arcade scores.
If you are exclusively submitting home version scores, then you might find it convenient to uncheck [Make new scores public by default] in your profile settings, found by clicking [Update My Profile] in the site's main menu. This will make it so that all scores you submit are private by default.

Q10. What does upgrading my account mean?
A10. This news post by Snooj should answer any and all questions: With all the basic services completed or nearing completion, we have taken the time to create some great new services for people who want a bit more out of DDRecall. The New User levels are as follows:
Free Account: When you create a DDRecall account, you start here. You currently have, and will always have, score submission, course submission, buddy lists, challenge management, and all the other great features you've come to expect from score trackers. But there's more...
Forum User: For a one-time $10 donation you get access to our growing Forums. Whether you are new to Forums or a seasoned Internet Veteran, the DDRecall Forums will be the place to share your DDR insights, experiences, and accomplishments with other like-minded people in our vast community. The forums are moderated to provide a flame-free environment for all. You'll be able to contact other DDRecall members directly, reply to news posts, get information on local tournaments, and comment on Bugs or New Feature requests. Check out the forums here. Anyone in the community can read the forums, but only Forum Users can register and post!
Challenge user: At the next level up, for $15 you get the Forum membership described above plus a little something extra for people who love challenges: Your maximum challenges peak at 30 instead of 15 and you get instant e-mail notification if you a) get a new challenge, b) have a challenge you submitted to someone get completed (so you can send them a new one!) or c) have someone leave notes on a challenge you submitted to them. Also, coming soon, you will have the ability to send instant messages directly over DDRecall to other users who have you on their buddy list; the message will pop up as soon as they enter the DDRecall site.
Premium User: As a Premium User, for $20 you get not only our undying respect, but all the features mention above (Forum Access, extra challenge features including unlimited challenges) plus three megs of image hosting for all your AAA pics, SDG pics, Oni pics, or any DDR pics for any songs. No more off-site hosting, worrying about hotlinking external images, or losing your hosting. For those of you unfamiliar with file sizes, 3MB will fit a lot of images and for those of you unfamiliar with FTP, we have an easy-to-use interface for uploading your images. If you need more space, there is Premium Plus for $40 which gives you twice as much storage space as well as all the extra paid services.
Please note: All fees are one-time charges; you pay $10 for the forum, you've got it forever. The fee is also non-refundable, so if you join the forum and then flame other users, fail to heed warnings, and get banned, DDRecall retains your payment. Accounts can be upgraded at any time for the difference of the account cost, for instance, if you become a Forum Member now for $10, you can become a Challenge Member at any time for an additional $5.
New features and benefits will be added in to each level from time to time as we think of neat new stuff. Mostly, these will be services that take a bit extra bandwidth or programming time, hence the reward for the users who support DDRecall. Anything you get for free now will always be free.
And for those of you who already contributed, Thank You! You guys are awesome. For everyone else, If you'd like to get started simply click here!

Q11. What happened to my account?
A11. Every few weeks, accounts that haven't been activated in 90 days are deleted from the system. You may need to re-register. Otherwise, your mail server may be blocking our activation E-mails or you entered the wrong E-mail address. If one of these is the case, you will need to contact us directly (using the link at the bottom of every page on this site). Please note your user name and E-mail address in the body and include "ddrecall account" in the subject line.
