13g A Stupid Barber (from 17g) Joy Plaza in Seoul was amazing! I got to play Sirius for 500W a game. I am a box. Yar! [Self-introduction] Heya, 26-year old grad student here (BS in Computer Science) going through the Air Force to pay off loans and to have a steady job. This page is pretty much my DDR blog now, so check back every now and then to keep tabs on me. (How's my playing? Call 555-... no, it's not like those T-shirts.) I've been DDRing for over four years now, and I started Heavy back around July 2005. It's turned into my main form of stress relief and my favorite game. [Regarding Challenges] Challenges welcome and highly encouraged! My DDR milestone list is one of the must-sees here - it shows my notable accomplishments like AAs/SDGs, so you can use it to check my skill level easily. I put a lot of effort into its accuracy, so please feel free to point out any discrepancies. (UPDATE: The link is now dead along with Geocities, but I regularly update the list and would gladly upload it to Sendspace upon request. I also have many score photos available for evidence.) [Play Style] 'Speed mods and Solo for PA 'No-bar mostly 'Bar on harder stuff to conserve stamina or keep balanced 'Can play modless too (see Oni/5th mix scores) at cost to PA I normally play without the bar. Part of my reason for DDRing is to improve my balance, and it won't get any better if I don't practice it. Also, barless scores are more impressive! I've given the bar a shot though, and it can be so useful that I won't ignore it on the harder charts. It lets me play really draining songs without it hurting my PA for the rest of the day, and I can use higher speed mods without falling down (Mikeneko Rock on 2x bar is AWESOME). Scores obtained with the bar will say so in the comment, because I think it makes enough of a difference to be worth mentioning. February 22nd: AA'd Burnin' the Floor (Momo Mix) by counting my combo in Oni mode - oni combo doesn't increase for greats, so starting with 314 combo and ending with 645 means I got 331 perfects/marvs and therefore 33g. (Thanks for the tip, wschmrdr!) -Raised my Naoki Neo-Standard by 2 points with better MA, but worse PA >__> -Got to Captain Jack in Dancemania -Oni- and died in the intro. Rawr gallops. -Tried and horribly failed at Paranoia Survivor on doubles. Yeah, so my pads suck at holding freezes. Pretty much all 1P arrows can give pad misses, too. I haven't played on the right much, but it seems to have pad errors too. February 21st: AA'd Butterfly (Doubles Heavy) and got ES. Then there was a fire and I had to leave... thankfully nobody was hurt, and the club was undamaged. A rusty player was getting his chance again for the first time in two years, and was cursing his luck that there had to be a fire right after he hears there's a DDR on base, lol. I'll meet up with him tomorrow and get some more good times in. Oh, and I picked up Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon today. The rest were Supernova. -Got halfway through LOM (technically all the way) when a parent's kids left the machine and he picked LOM as "a slow song" and left when I said it was the hardest song in the game >__> -Got about 20 seconds into Paranoia Respect before getting off by a couple seconds on a stop, oops. I passed up Legend of Max though, plus some oni steps and Xenon and tl100s since that other guy wanted to play a 7 or something. Also I cleared Sakura, though I'm not quite used to unpatched Supernova's timing and didn't do all that well (other than the handplant Almost on the slow note, that was so worth it). October 25: true... ~radio edit~: 25g (95.96% → 96.52%) Got LOM to Player's Best #21! =o Jason accidentally hit Right right when I hit green for Nonstop, so we ended up playing Oni mode. We both got high scores since the list was blanked out. Jason surprisingly really liked Oni mode (even though he only got halfway through NNS) so I'm happy. FINALLY, and I just get the cutoff >_> Almost improved So Deep with the bar (3x!), but I hit the dead sensor a few times and my lack of a drink started to wear me out by the end... I want to keep improving my stamina so I can clear these onis and AA the Paranoias. Later that night: Mahou no Tobira: 20g 1gd (93.75% → 96.28%) LOTS more Standard scores, which I'm not listing here since they're not improvs of existing scores. Graduation: 29g from 31g (94.40% → 94.77%) Janejana: 14g from 30g (95.05% → 97.69%) I got 32.6 seconds into LoM (keep messing up the jumps!) and it's now ranked above Max 300 on Player's Best. Sky High Standard Doubles has freeze spins that caught me off-guard (plus an early start while I was checking the pads), though near the end I almost got in a handplant X) On the other hand, I got this little beauty =o Dynamite Rave: 42g 1gd (91.21% → 94.47%, AA #184) on 3x bar.
